Yung is a successful general of his cousin King Dongseong's army and he's in love with Chae-hwa, the daughter of the court official Baek-ga, who wants Yung on the throne and his daughter as the queen. When Baek-ga is accused of the king's murder, the two lovers take different paths: Chae-hwa is taken to Gaya by a servant, Goo-chun, and gives birth to Yung's daughter, Seol-nan; she then marries her savior and, some years later, gives birth to Seol-hee. In the meantime, Yung believes his lover died and ascends the throne as Muryeong. To protect former King Dongseong's son Jin-moo, he switches his own son Myung-nong with him.
