History
in 1903, the Tata Group established its first Hotel The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai, India under the brand name Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces. From 1903 to early 21st century, the Taj Group started several hotels in India and abroad. On 12 October 2006, the Taj Group amalgamated Indian Resorts Hotel Limited, Gateway Hotels and Getaway Resorts Limited, Kuteeram Resorts Private Limited, Asia Pacific Hotels Limited and Taj Lands End Limited. In 2008, Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces, launched a new brand "The Gateway Hotel". Several existing properties were migrated to this new brand and several others were added to the portfolio.
