Plot

In 1995, four young school friends, Mark Wells (Tom Cullen), Danny Kenwood (O. T. Fagbenle), Slade (Lee Ingleby) and Pru Carew (Sarah Solemani) are left traumatized after Mark's five-year-old brother Jesse disappears after playing in the park with them. No trace of Jesse has even been found, but a serial killer, Jakob Marosi, who has been charged with five other murders claimed that he was responsible for Jesse's death. Jesse's parents, Julie and Alan (Geraldine James and Michael Maloney), had given up all hope of ever finding him alive.

Twenty years on, Kenwood is now a Detective Sergeant working for Westbridge Police. When he attends the scene of a murder, he finds prostitute Annie Green, who has been brutally attacked with a hammer. When DNA evidence from the crime scene returns from the lab, Kenwood is shocked to find Jesse's DNA at the scene. An intricate web of trials and tribulations then begins to unfold as the four childhood friends re-unite in the hope of finding Jesse alive and well.
