This docudrama chronicles the life of L. Frank Baum, the writer of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz." Also starring in this TV movie was Annette OToole as Baums supportive wife, Maud and Rue McClanahan as Baums tough mother-in-law, Matilda Gage. Johns son, Jason Ritter, makes his debut in this telefilm as Harry Neal Baum.

The film is the biography of Frank Baum, the children's book author and creator of the fantasy world Oz.

Plot

The film depicts how L. Frank Baum came to create one of the much loved fairy tale The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, while undergoing professional and personal failures.
