The dogist
The Dogist is a 2016 short documentary film directed by E.J. McLeavey-Fisher about the street photographer Elias Weiss Friedman also known as @thedogist on Instagram. The documentary depicts Friedman current project named The Dogist : a photo-documentary series about the beauty of dogs. With over 1.8 million followers on Instagram the project became widely popular and attracted director McLeavey-Fisher who had been a long-time fan of The Dogist. The documentary was shot in three separate sessions in 2015.

Elias Weiss Friedman aka @thedogist walks around in New York city asking dog owners if he can take pictures of their canine. By playing and connecting with them, he is able to capture the perfect shot to exhibit their personality and style, sometimes adding the bottom half of their owner to show the relationship between them.
