History

The Dog Problem was originally produced at Williamstown Theater Festival in the Summer of 1998 where it premiered as a one-act play entitled: Corners. The Cast included Joe Pacheco as Ronnie, Robert Pastorelli as Ray, Christopher Meloni as Joey, Victor Argo as Uncle Malvolio, Ty Burrell as Tommy Stones, and Kathryn Hahn as Theresa.

The production team included, Director: Scott Ellis, Set design: Allen Moyer, Lights: Brian Nason, Sound: Eilenn Hague, Costumes: Constance Hoffman.

During its run at Williamstown, Mr. Rabe was inspired to expand the play to a full length. During the later part of the play's run, the company performed the First Act and then did a staged reading of the newly developed Second Act.

In 2000, the Long Wharf Theatre (Stage 2) produced the premiere of the expanded Corners text which became the full-length play, The Dog Problem. Scott Ellis directed that production and the cast included: Joe Pacheco as Ronnie, Larry Clarke as Ray, David Wike as Joey, Victor Argo as Uncle Malvolio, Andrea Gabriel as Theresa, Michael Kell as Priest, and Ed Lemert as The Dog.
