The Difference Between Fichte's and Schelling's Systems of Philosophy (German: Differenz des Fichteschen und Schellingschen Systems der Philosophie, 1801) was the first major work of Hegel's to break with Schelling. Hegel rejected pantheistic mysticism and called for a more rationalistic understanding of self-consciousness.
