History
The former North Rockhampton railway station, the terminus of the North Rockhampton to Emu Park railway line, was in The Common. The railway allowed Rockhampton people easy access to seaside recreation.

The Common is the location of the Cyril Connell Touch Fields, Rockhampton Cricket Club and Callaghan Race Park.
