The Cascade is the University of the Fraser Valley's student-run paper, with offices located on the university's campus in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada. While the paper's current era as The Cascade began in 1993, it began publication in the 1970s, under different names that would last only for a short number of years. The Cascade keeps between 14 and 17 paid staff members at any one time as circumstances allow, as well as volunteer contributors. It operates independently of the university's administration and student society. The paper is currently composed of four major sections: News, Opinion, Culture and Arts-in-Review. It is published weekly on Wednesdays, and is a former member of the Canadian University Press.
