Profiles

The Business School Guyana was founded in 1975 by Erma Bovell. Bovell, a deeply religious individual, started the school to provide secretarial training for girls from low-income households who were unable to get an education in the Guyana public school system.

The Business School is located in Georgetown, Guyana, and has facilities for teaching Computer Science, Drama, Arts, Business and Accounting, Science and Corporate Training programmes.

The Business School admits students of any race, colour, nation or ethnic origin.

The Business School – High School was established in September 1997. At that time only forms 3 to 5 were available and students were prepared for the CXC Business Subjects. In September 2000 the High School admitted students for forms 1 to 5. The curriculum includes Science, the Humanities, Information Technology and Business.

Programs

The college offers programmes within the four faculties of Business, Secretarial Science, Information Technology and Management Training. The courses are offered on a part-time and full-time basis.

The school offers a full-time Secretarial Training Programme for students who want a secretarial career or seeking employment as general clerks. The subjects offered on the programme are English, Mathematics, Typewriting, Shorthand, Office Procedures and Information Technology.

Part-time programmes are designed for individuals upgrading their certification, individuals embarking on a career in Business and Accountancy, Information Technology or Secretarial Science.
