The Thakor (Gujarati: ઠાકોર) are a caste found in the state of Gujarat ,in India. In some areas of Gujarat, Generally surnames and given names as like the Rajput community.
History and origin
The Thakore claim to have originated in Gujarat. They are found in the districts of Mehsana, Patan, Ahmedabad, Banaskantha, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Anand, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Panchmahal, Sourashtra and Baroda. Due to Sanskritisation, the community resembles many other quasi-Rajput groupings such as the Kathi also found in Gujarat. They have a number of clans, called Ataks, the chief ones being the Makwana, Solanki, Parmar, Chauhan, Lenchiya, Vaghela, Dabhi, and Like other Hindu communities, they maintain the custom of clan exogamy. .
