District 4 is a district of the Texas House of Representatives that serves the whole of Kaufman County and Henderson County. The current representative for District 4 is Republican Betty Brown, who was first elected in 1998.

District description

The district encompasses the whole of Kaufman County and Henderson County. Cities in the district include Kaufman, Athens, Terrell, Forney, Mabank, and Eustace.

2008 candidates

Betty J. Brown has served as Representative for District 4 since her election in 1998. Eightieth Texas Legislature. Brown and Wade Gent, a Forney attorney and judge, met in the 2006 primary election, which saw Brown hold her seat by 551 votes. Gent and Brown are both seeking the Republican nomination in 2008.

Victor Morales is the lone Democratic party candidate for the District 4 seat. Morales, a Kaufman schoolteacher, is best known for his unsuccessful 1996 race for U.S. Senate against Republican Phil Gramm.
