Tercio, Colorado

Tercio is an extinct town in Las Animas County, in the U.S. state of Colorado. The GNIS classifies it as a populated place.

A post office called Tercio was established in 1902, and remained in operation until 1949. The community was the third (Spanish: tercio) mining community established by Colorado Fuel and Iron, hence the name.
