The Telecommunications Employees and Staff Association, commonly known as TESA, is a registered trade union in Mauritius under the Industrial Relations Act 1973. The main object of the trade union is to represent the employees of the Mauritius Telecom Group and the employees working in the Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) Sector in general, in all matters of industrial relations, human resources, human rights, workers education and, human and work relations. The managing committee is composed of Messrs Suraj Ray, Vipin Heeramun and Jitendranath (Navin) Seetah, President, Secretary General and Treasurer respectively. TESA regroups employees from all the strata of the sector whereby it represents both managerial and non managerial staffs. Workers who take employment on fixed term contracts may also be members of TESA. It is the largest trade union of the ICT Sector in Mauritius and also the most prominent recognised trade union of Mauritius Telecom with 1,210 members as at 31 December 2007; representing around 67% of the total employees of the company.
