Tau Persei (Tau Per, τ Persei, τ Per) is multiple star system in constellation of Perseus, with an apparent magnitude of +3.93. The primary component is a yellow G-type giant. It is approximately 248 light years from Earth.

Tau Persei is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 2.8 km/s relative to the Sun. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 24,100 and 34,200 light years from the center of the Galaxy.

Naming

In Chinese, 大陵 (Dà Líng), meaning Mausoleum, refers to an asterism consisting of τ Persei, 9 Persei, ι Persei, κ Persei, β Persei, ρ Persei, 16 Persei and 12 Persei. Consequently, τ Persei itself is known as 大陵二 (Dà Líng èr, English: the Second Star of Mausoleum.).
