Tatiana Lia Zappardino is an American actress, writer, and director. She’s best known for her roles in the SyFy supernatural drama ‘Superstition’ and the comedy short film ‘Swiped’ (2019). She also did community theater and founded her own all-female comedy sketch team.

Early & Personal Life

Tatiana Zappardino was born on October 2, 1989, in San Diego, California. In many interviews, Zappardino mentioned how she grew up as a happy child. She developed an interest in being an actress early in her young life. The spark behind her new-found dream was the works of Jim Carrey. Zappardino especially liked how with a few lines, you can draw a smile on someone’s face or move the world with an idea.

Her dreams began to come to fruition in 2008 when she started her community theatre career. The aspiring actress acted in many plays, such as Mama Won’t Fly, Cocktails with Mimi, Pippin, Valentine Cabaret, Broadway After Dark 4, Hamlet, Ragtime, and Heartbreak House. Zappardino received her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Theater Arts at Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida. She was also commissioned into the United States Marine Corps as a Public Affairs Officer in 2011. While this step didn’t exactly have anything to do with her acting career, it helped her grow and reflect on her career goals.

The amount of tenacity and resilience she gained from this position helped her later not to accept less than what she deserves. In 2015, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she resides, as of 2021. Like all actors in their beginnings, she started with an entirely different job. She earned her living working as a barista for a year. However, she always knew that she was meant for something else, and she was right. So, she quit her barista job to pursue her acting career.

Career

She started her career as a stand-up and sketch writer. Her first sketch team was at Highwire Comedy. Being the only female actress in the team, she was often typecast in cliché roles, such as the damsel in distress, sexy cheerleader, mistress, and french maid.

Zappardino was also rejected for a lead role that she was interested in because it was only written for a male. She was often told by the group that “men are just funnier”, which motivated her to form her own all-female comedy sketch team: Fine China Comedy. Since the group is production-based, they learned all aspects of filmmaking, such as producing, directing, and editing.

In 2014, she played a supporting role in the short animated film’ Paper Thin’. She played a series regular, Tilly, in the SyFy supernatural drama ‘Superstition’ from 2017 to 2018. She also played the role of Nadine Schiff on the American action crime drama NCIS: New Orleans

Apart from acting, Zappardino also co-wrote the 2019 comedy short film ‘Swiped’ with Fine China Comedy co-founder Sailor Larocque, which they spent two and a half years filming. She is also the lead spokesperson for Newday USA, a VA home loan mortgage lender.

Parents & Family

While not much is known about her private or family life, Tatiana Zappardino has stated many times how grateful she is for the support of her parents in her acting career. Her step-father, who is a Marine, was the one to introduce her to the Marine Corps’ Officer scholarship, which helped her pursue her acting career confidently.
