The Tasmania Fire Service (TFS) is the Tasmanian Government agency responsible for fire suppression and control for the state of Tasmania and its surrounding islands.

Established on 1 November 1979 as a result of enacting the Fire Service Act 1979, the TFS superseded the State Fire Authority, the Rural Fires Board and 22 urban fire brigades.

The Tasmanian Fire Service is under the State Fire Commission and comprises, the Commissioner, the Director of Urban brigades, the Director of Country brigades - as well as two representatives from local government, and a representative of the State Treasurer.

As of 2008 the service has a fleet of 450 fire trucks and maintains its own vehicle fabrication workshop.
