TAG Airlines

TAG Airlines was a small airline serving downtown Detroit, Michigan from 1957 until 1970. Its tag line was "The World's Busiest Airline", and it served airports that were 5–15 minutes from the downtown areas, mainly in Detroit, Michigan, and Cleveland, Ohio. It flew ex-military de Havilland Doves. The business closed not long after one of its Doves crashed into frozen Lake Erie in January 1970, killing all nine people aboard.

The Taxi Air Group started in 1954, flying de Havilland Otter floatplanes between Toledo and Cleveland. It's not in the July 1956 OAG, but in the December 1956 and April 1957 issues TAG Airlines is scheduling a few flights in the Miami area on 11-passenger Otter landplanes.

In the August 1957 OAG, TAG has remade itself: no Otters, no Florida, just four Mon-Fri Dove round trips between Detroit City Airport and Cleveland Lakefront, fare $14 one way. In 1958-59 it tried flights to Akron Municipal, Chicago Meigs and Rockford IL but by April 1960 it was back to just DET-CEL, now eight weekday flights each way. In December 1964, 30 weekday flights each way and ten each way on weekends.

By May 1965 TAG had added flights from CEL to Cincinnati Lunken and Columbus. In February 1966 it was at its peak: 29 Dove flights each way DET-CEL MoTuThFr, 26 on Wed, 12 on SaSu, plus a bunch of routes flown by Piper Aztecs:

7 weekday flights each way DET-CLE
8 ditto DET-CMH
3 DET-LUK
7 CEL-DTW
6 CEL-LUK
8 CEL-CMH
8 CEL-AGC plus two on weekends
5 CMH-LUK
4 CMH-HTS

In the November 1967 Airline Guide TAG was still flying to CMH and HTS, but in the December issue they're back to one route, DET-CEL.
