T J Rooney Chris Vance


T.J. Rooney is the former chair of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party and a former member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

He is a graduate of West Essex High School in North Caldwell, New Jersey. He attended Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina.

He was first elected to represent the 133rd legislative district in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1992.

He was named runner up for the 2003 Politician of the Year by the political website PoliticsPA, who noted the statewide success of the Democratic party, who won five of six statewide judicial races and helped elect Dan Onorato and re-elect John Street.

He retired prior to the 2006 elections. He is currently Managing Director of the Tri State Strategies PA, L.L.C., a Pennsylvania lobbying organization.

He was called a "key player" in winning Pennsylvania for Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential election. In 2010, he was named of the "Top 10 Democrats" in Pennsylvania by Politics Magazine.
