Syncplify.me Server! is a Windows-based secure file transfer server with support for plain and encrypted FTP protocols, both implicit and explicit, as well as SSH-2 and SFTP. The server supports user authentication via built-in user database, Windows-based authentication, Active Directory, and public key authentication.

Contents

Its features include a blacklist that is automatically triggered when a protocol violation is identified, standard IP security rules, virtual directories, and a script-based event handling subsystem. Management can be performed via secure and responsive web interface, command-line interface, and REST API.

History

The project was started in October 2013, and the first version was released in February 2014, with support for FTP, FTPS, FTPES, SSH-2, and SFTP.

Version 2.x followed on March 2, 2014, and added several new events that can be managed through the scripting subsystem, modified the user interface, and configuration options for encryption algorithms in order to comply to several regulations including PCI-DSS and HIPAA.

On October 3, 2015, Syncplify.me Server! v3.0 was released adding the possibility to run multiple isolated virtual servers (then called "instances"), and support for W3C Extended Log File Format.

On February 17, 2016, Syncplify.me Server! v4.0 was released. The new version added features like management via REST API and secure (HTTPS) web interface, decoupled the database back-end to improve scalability and make high-availability deployments easier, and added support for ECDSA server keys.

According to File Transfer Consulting, that keeps a current list of FTP and MFT servers, Syncplify.me Server! is not affected by the Heartbleed bug. Over the years some of the security features of the software have been tested and the results were included in a research papers/journals that are available to the public. Syncplify.me Server! is one of the software programs included in Alternativeto.net's verified list of secure file transfer software, which is essentially a third-party independent verification of its functionality, not an endorsement of its performance.
