SwimJim, Inc. is a US-based swimming program for children and adults run by the veteran swimmer, Jim Spiers, with its curriculum designed by the Olympic champion, Catherine Fox.

History

The founder, Spiers, learnt to swim at the age of 3 and started teaching swimming by 17. He started the SwimJim in 1998. On his yearly visits to the Olympic Training Center, where he went to study advanced swimming techniques, he met Catherine Fox, a US swimmer who won two Olympic gold medals in 1996.

SwimJim currently serves as an aquatic education program focused on teaching safe swimming methods. The program further focuses on teaching novice swimmers and children to be comfortable with the water via behavioural and developmental patterns.

Instructors of the program are in New York City and Houston and all of them belong to the United States Swim School Association (USSSA). The trainers are also certified in CPR and First Aid.

The founder, Jim Spiers, is also the current President of Safer 3’s board of directors. SwimJim is a member of the 'Make a Splash', USSSA and 3 Water Safety Foundation.

Founder, Spiers, and the SwimJim program have received coverage from media channels including ABC, NY Times, NBC-TV, Aquatics International National Public Radio and Martha Stewart Radio. In 2013, Spiers received the Humanitarian Award from USSSA for his water safety efforts.
