Stuart S. Malawer, J.D., Ph.D. is the Distinguished Service Professor of Law & International Trade at George Mason University School of Public Policy. He is an international lawyer who writes on public international law, foreign policy and international trade issues. He earned a law degree from the Cornell Law School and a Ph.D. in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania.

He is the author of articles published by such universities as Harvard, Cornell, and Virginia.

In 2009 Dr. Malawer was named to the Board of Directors of the Virginia Economic Development Partnership by Virginia Governor Tim Kaine and confirmed by the Virginia General Assembly. Dr. Malawer formerly served as Chairman of the International Practice Section of the Virginia State Bar.

Dr. Malawer was a founding faculty member of the George Mason University School of Law teaching international law and the founding Director of the Graduate International Transactions Program [1] at George Mason University (International Institute) and received the George Mason University Faculty Member of the Year Award.
