Strophanthus divaricatus is a liana or sarmentose shrub that can grow up to 4.5 metres (15 ft) tall, with a trunk diameter of up to 4 centimetres (1.6 in). Divaricatus is from the Latin meaning "spreading at a wide angle". S. divaricatus has been used medicinally: as a heart stimulant and in the treatment of snakebites. It is found in China, Laos and Vietnam.
