Strategic Actions for a Just Economy (SAJE) is a nonprofit economic justice organization. It was founded by Gilda Haas in 1996. Their current director is Paulina Gonzalez. SAJE focuses on organizing existing community members in poor neighborhoods to make sure that they are not displaced by urban revitalization projects.

Their projects have included:

  • Securing affordable housing and renovations to buildings owned by a slum lord in South Los Angeles
  • Working with Washington Mutual bank to create a pilot program to reduce high check cashing fees for welfare recipients.
  • co-organization of the Annual South Los Angeles Health and Human Rights Conference to address community health issues.
