Plot

Following the re-emergence of the Grafters, Checquy Rook Myfanwy Thomas is negotiating the complex details of the peace agreement between the two sides, but is hampered by both residual hostility and suspicion and a strange series of attacks that appear to be Grafter in origin. As part of this peace agreement, Myfanwy arranges for Checquy Pawn Felicity Clements- who possesses the power of clairsentience- to be assigned as bodyguard to the teenage Odette Leliefeld, great-great-great-etc. granddaughter of the Grafters' leader, resulting in a tentativefriendship being formed between the two even as the truth behind the Grafter attacks is exposed.
