Steve Padgitt is a sociologist who studies environmental and community development. Padgitt is a Professor at Iowa State University, where he also earned his PhD in 1971.
Padgitt says, "Communities would not exist if there were not volunteerism. Sociologists call it 'creating social capital.' It's the social glue that holds folks together."
