Stephen Malcolm Walker M.A. (Oxon) F.C.I.Arb. is a London-based mediator and solicitor specialising in civil and commercial mediations. He is also Chairman of the Campaign Board for Jesus College Oxford, a director of ADR Net Ltd and editor of the newsletter for the Anthony Powell Society.

Walker was born in Old Trafford, Manchester and is the oldest of 4 children. He is married with 3 children.

He was a non-executive Chairman of 2 Lloyd's managing agencies, Newman and Stuchbery and Owen & Wilby Plc ( later Girling at Lloyd's). He also became the non-executive Chairman of a Lloyd's broker Dixon Manchester Plc until it was sold to Houston Casualty.

In 2007 Bray Walker merged with the Bristol firm of Bevans. Walker retired from full-time legal practice at the end of 2010. He is a consultant at Cook & Co.

As of 2015, he practices as a civil and commercial mediator. He has spoken at several mediation conferences and was a judge of the ICC mediation competition in 2014 and 2015. He is also a visiting lecturer in mediation at King's College London.

In 2013 his book written with David Smith on mediation advocacy: “Advising and Representing Clients at Mediation " was published by Wildy's.

He contributed the chapter on mediating shareholder disputes and post-transaction warranty claims in David Richbell's book: 'How to Master Commercial Mediation, to be published by Bloomsbury in January 2015.

His new book on mediation advocacy is due to be published by Bloomsbury in February 2015.

He has made podcasts on mediation advocacy, which were published by CPD podcasts Ltd.
