The Stephen Phillips Memorial Preserve is land and islands on Mooselookmeguntic lake, Maine. Comprising over 6,000 acres it is one of the largest protected wilderness areas in the state. The Preserve was created in 1963 as a means of protecting the natural beauty of the land, while maintaining that it remains accessible to the public. There is wilderness camping on the East and West Shores of the Lake, Student's Island, Toothaker Island, Shelter Island, Farrington Island, and Griffin Island.

Camping at the Preserve is wilderness camping. Each campsite has a tent pad and access to an outhouse. There are approximately 60 campsites at the Preserve. Toothaker Island is the largest island on the lake. Roughly 1/3 of this island belongs to the Preserve. There are six campsites on Toothaker. Student's Island is one mile long, and has eighteen campsites on it, as well as hiking trails that traverse the back side of the island. Student's Island is entirely owned by the Preserve.

In the Sept 5, 1998 issue of the Sun Journal the following is said about the Preserve, "Our destination is Student's Island, a short paddle from the offices of the Stephen Phillips Memorial Preserve. Managed by Jim and Olive Turner, the preserve has 60 wilderness campsites stretched along the shore and island, including some a far paddle away on the western shore."

The Preserve is mentioned in a Boston.com article titled "Roughing it on an island, with cocktails"

Contact information and camping fees for the preserve can be found here. This site also has pictures of the sites, camping policies, maps, and a brief history of how the preserve came to be.
