Stavernfestivalen is an annual pop and rock festival that is held mid-July in Stavern, in the south-east of Norway.
Background
The first festival took place in 2001 with a lineup of four bands and an audience of 175. The open air festival groundarea is in a clearing right off the shoreline, nestled amidst the dense forest and close to the shore in the south of Stavern. This has been a venue for the Stavernfestivalen ever since it was first held. The ground is large enough to provide camping, food, sanitation and other basic facilities for the huge crowd.
Now the festival has grown into a three-day event and hosts both national as well as international artists, and draws as many as close to 30.000 from all over in 2012.
