Stanlie Myrise James is an American social scientist, currently the Vise Provost on Inclusion at Arizona State University. She has been the director of the African and African-American studies program at Arizona State University and at the Afro-American Studies Program at University of Wisconsin, Madison. James has held joint appointments in Afro-American Studies and Women's Studies. She specializes in black feminism, black families, and international human rights.

Education

James obtained her MA and PhD in Comparative Politics and Human Rights from the University of Denver, and an MA from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, where she specialized in British colonial history in West Africa. She received her BA in Sociology and History from Spelman College.
