IHS, the first three letters of "Jesus" in Greek, is written in the center of the sun, and is sometimes given the meaning Iesu (Jesus), Homo (mankind), and Salvator (saviour). IHS is the symbol of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) since their foundation under St. Ignatius of Loyola.

School activities

  • The Odyssey was an inter-school cultural festival that was a part of the school's tradition for 20 years. The festival spaned three days with more than 15 events. The festival was wholly organised by the 11th and 12th grade students. Participating schools were: St. Xavier's High School, Loyola Hall, St. Xavier's Gandhinagar, Mt. Carmel Ahmedabad, Rachana Ahmedabad, St. Xavier's High School, Mirzapur, Little Flower School, Mahatma Gandhi International School, and Tulip school. In 2006 Father Morondo (the founder of The Odyssey) replaced it with The Chronos festival which runs for two days, has nine events, and involves four schools.
  • Sports Day is held each December and reveals talent that has gone on to represent the school, the city, the state, and the country. The students are divided among four 4 dens: Lions, Panthers, Bears, and Tigers. Each year brings an intense battle for top honors. The den captains, the symbolic torch bearer, and the accompanying flag bearers are chosen from the best sportspersons in the school.

Represented are plays by such authors as Oscar Wilde, Neil Simon, and Agatha Christie, including "The Matchmaker", "Lady Windermere's Fan", "The Apollo and Bellac", and "Red Carnations". Occasionally plays are produced by 9th standard and also alumni. "The Odd Couple" by Neil Simon was staged in April 2007 by alumni.
