The St. James Cathedral (Spanish: Catedral de Santiago en Valparaíso) also called Valparaíso Cathedral is a cathedral church of Catholic worship, seat of the Diocese of Valparaíso, in Chile. it is in the plan of the city, in the neighborhood El Almendral, the east side of the Plaza de la Victoria.
Currently, this temple also makes host the Parish Holy Spirit, which previously stood in front of the Plaza but in another location, and in that first temple was where he married Captain Arturo Prat, naval hero of the War of the Pacific (Naval battle of Iquique) with Carmela Carvajal.
The building, in Gothic style, was built during the years 1910 and 1950 on donated land Juana Ross Edwards. It was restored after the earthquakes of 1971 and 1985.
