St. Don Bosco's College, Lakhimpur is an English Language college in India.

Contents

The college was founded in November, 1979. It was started with the object of imparting modern education to the students in a manner that conserves their religion, language, script and culture. The school is owned and managed by "The Catholic Diocese of Lucknow", a charitable religious society.

This institution is situated in Lakhimpur Kheri a district of Uttar Pradesh in the Lucknow division. It is equipped with laboratories, classrooms, a library, badminton courts, table-tennis, basketball and volleyball courts and extensive playgrounds for football, hockey, cricket with athletics, and a computer lab.

    Curricular

    From Nursery to Class X General education in all the subjects is provided.

    For Classes XI and XII the College provides courses of studies in English, Hindi, Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), Mathematics, Computer Literacy and Socially Useful Productive Work (SUPW) only.

    Co-curricular

    Besides academic courses, the College provides co-curricular activities like debates, dramatics, elocution, music, art/craft, socially useful and productive works, electronics and food craft.

    Games and Sports

    The College has large play-fields for hockey, football, cricket, badminton, table-tennis, courts for basketball, volleyball and facilities for Athletics.

    Physical Education

    For physical education and fitness regular training is provided through Physical Training classes.

    Functions and Programs

    Teachers' Day, Children's Day, Parents' Day, Independence Day, Republic Day, Patron's Day, Christmas Day, Workers' Day, etc. are celebrated with cultural and field activities.

    Service to the community

    Awareness and action oriented Programs. Participation is compulsory for all the students.

    Other Activities

    Excursions, picnics and various projects are undertaken during the year.

    Administration

    The Founder Body through the Catholic Education Society Lucknow (The Catholic Diocese of Lucknow) administers the College.

    Management Committee

    This body manages the day-to-day affairs of the College.

    Academic Council

    Sectional and subject-wise Staff Representatives form the academic Council of the College to manage the curricular and co-curricular activities.

    Student Council

    College captain. House captains/Vice captains and other prefects appointed from among the Class XII.

    Disciplinary Committee

    Headed by the Vice-Principal, the House Masters and the P.T.I, see to the discipline on the Campus.

    Parent-Teacher meetings

    Regular Parent-Teacher meetings are held to bring together parents and teachers to co-ordinate and co-operate for the all round growth of children.

    Publication

    The College annual magazine is published to give an insight to parents/guardians and well wishers about college happenings and to encourage literary skills among the students.

    Houses

    The school students become members of one of the following four houses –

  • St Don Bosco (red)
  • St Patrick (green)
  • St Dominic Savio (yellow)
  • St Francis (blue)
  • Throughout the year inter-house events are organised, such as sports and social work. The house with the best performance in all the events is awarded the Best House Trophy at the end of the year.

    Alumni

    The alumni association of St. Don Bosco College is called the "St. Don Bosco College Lakhimpur Ex Student's Association". The Alumni's have established an executive committee which hosts several events throughout the year.
