History

Started by missionaries of the Convent of Jesus and Mary in 1912, St. Agnes High School initially housed two different schools — one affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations and the other to the Maharashtra State Board. In the early 1970s, the schools were merged into a government-aided state board school. In 1992, a school for special students was started.

School motto

The school's motto is ‘Excelsior' which means, 'Ever Higher, Ever Onward!’ This motto was inspired by Longfellow's verses “From the sky serene and far, a voice fell like a falling star, ‘Excelsior! Excelsior!”
