History

St Sampson's High School was opened in 2008, to serve as a replacement to the old St Sampson's secondary school, and the St Peter Port secondary school. Both the original schools have now been transformed into colleges of further education, while their pupils have moved to the newer St Sampson's High.

Behavioral

In 2009 it was reported in the Guernsey Press, that seven students had to be suspended for allegedly carrying knives, while another pupil claimed that her books had been burnt by bullies. There were also claims by some parents that the integration of students from the original St Sampson's School, and St Peter Port School, had been ultimately unsuccessful.

Educational

Problems in the Guernsey state-funded schools have been highlighted in the Mulkerrin report on the Education Services in Guernsey. The report claims that the percentage of St Sampson's High School students who attained five A*-C GCSE grades in 2011 was only 38%, which is the second lowest percentage in the report - out-failed only by La Mare De Cateret secondary school in which only 24.5% of pupils attained the grades. In comparison, Elizabeth College, Guernsey Grammar School and Sixth Form Centre and Ladies' College attained scores of 96.8%, 97.9%, and 100% respectively.
