Background

The church traditions date back 400 years according to reliable information gathered from church periodicals and articles. It has been said that a copper plate, discovered during the church renovation in 1986, reveals that the church was donated to thieves of kanjiram (snake wood or kuchala, a medicinal plant) forest (forest in Malayalam is called 'kadu', thus the name was kanjiramkadu, which in course of time changed to kanjiracode) by a Brahmin lady Meenakshi Ammal.

Currently

The church is a place for worship and Catholic faith. Now the church is under the charge of parish priest Very Rev. Xaviour Lazer. About ten thousand families attend this Catholic church and take part in church services. The eminent men of the locality mainly the former village officer A.Kunjapan had done a great deal in the church renovation and ensuring the smooth conduct of the church.
