The first issue of Square Mile was published in July 2005. The magazine is published by Square Up Media in London, which was founded by Tim Slee and Stephen Murphy.

Controversy

Square Mile courted controversy after issuing a press release saying it had held a lavish party on 13 July 2012, for 1,000 City of London bankers. Among the banks represented was Barclays, which was under investigation for its role in the LIBOR scandal.
