Spun Records was founded in 1999 by Seth Hoffmann, Bradd Hosking and G.M.S. (Growling Mad Scientists). It was the first psychedelic trance record label founded in the United States and specializes in the full-on psytrance and outdoor party sound. In July 2002 Seth and G.M.S. opened the European branch of the label in Ibiza, Spain, to increase the number of releases and the label's popularity in the worldwide electronic music scene.

In 2011 the label expanded to techno and progressive trance while simultaneously helping to revive the single and remix format with the release of the West Coast Progressive EP by Riktam & Bansi of G.M.S. fame. 2011 will see many more EPs of fresh dance floor exciters with affordable and exclusive digital availability on Beatport.com.

Spun Records features psychedlic trance artists such as 1200 Micrograms, Alternate Vision, Animalis, Bushman, Celli, Cyrus the Virus, Deedrah, Dizzy Mind, Dr. Hoffman, Earthling, Father & Son, Frequency Surfer, Gabe, Growling Machines, Growling Mad Scientists (G.M.S.), Kiva, Last Men Standing, Mack, Shanti Matkin, Dimitri Nakov, Paul Taylor, Perplex, Poli, Riktam & Bansi, Sentient, Soma, Soundaholix, Space Cat, Michelle Adamson, Wizzy Noise, Wrecked Machines, Wega, Zorba and more.
