The splendid woodpecker (Campephilus splendens) is a bird in the family Picidae formerly considered conspecific with the crimson-bellied woodpecker (Campephilus haematogaster). It is found in western and north-western Ecuador, south-western and western Colombia and eastern and northern Panama. Favoured habitats are humid and wet forest or montane forest from lowlands to 1,600 metres.
