'Spit It Out' was released in 2006 and was the first single to be taken from IAMX's second studio album The Alternative. A promo single which also featured album track 'President' was released soon after. It was re-released in 2008 in the US by Metropolis Records and in the UK by Fiction / NoCarbon / Genepool.

Music video

The music video, which was directed by Hans Hammers Jr., was filmed on location in Berlin, as Chris had moved there from London. It also includes his girlfriend at the time, Sue Denim of the band Robots In Disguise, and in it they walk about together and Chris also descends and ascends some stairs, which are surrounded by walls covered in graffiti. He can also be seen wearing two different outfits. At one stage, he is strapped to a gurney while Sue pushes it around.
