When Kodak introduced color film for consumers, a picture of Spirit Island was chosen to be displayed in their ad at Penn Station, New York. Winters are extremely harsh here with the lowest recorded temperature of -58 degree Fahrenheit. Average snowfall is six meters in a winter.
