Sphaerotheca is a genus of true frogs. They can be found in South Asia. Molecular data suggest that they are closely related Fejervarya, perhaps as a monophyletic group within a paraphyletic Fejervarya.

Species

As of 2014, the Amphibian Species of the World recognizes five species:

  • Sphaerotheca breviceps (Schneider, 1799)
  • Sphaerotheca dobsoni (Boulenger, 1882)
  • Sphaerotheca leucorhynchus (Rao, 1937)
  • Sphaerotheca rolandae (Dubois, 1983)
  • Sphaerotheca strachani (Murray, 1884)
  • Some sources, in particular the International Union for Conservation of Nature and the AmphibiaWeb, include also the following two species that the Amphibian Species of the World considers synonyms of Sphaerotheca breviceps:

  • Sphaerotheca maskeyi (Schleich & Anders, 1998)
  • Sphaerotheca swani (Myers et Leviton in Leviton, Myers & Swan, 1956)
