Spath Peninsula (64°21′S 56°55′W) is an ice-free peninsula, 6.5 km long, forming the northeast extremity of Snow Hill Island. Named by United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee (UK-APC) in 1995 after Leonard Frank Spath (1882–1957), eminent UK paleontologist and author of a classic paper on ammonites from the James Ross Island area, Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) Scientific Report No. 3.
