Martin landau speaks about the new space 2099 series should he be in it
Space: 2099 was a planned remake of the British television and Italian sci-fi series Space: 1999, the latter of which was created by Gerry Anderson and which ran from 1975 to 1977. The new series was announced in February 2012 and is planned to be made by ITV Studios America in conjunction with HD Films. In January 2014, the producers clarified that they are "not trying to make some 'dark and gritty' version of Space: 1999" but to instead "bring back to all science fiction fans that sense of awe, fear and incredible spectacle that is the unknown, unexplored universe". On 17 May 2014, producer Jace Hall announced that discussions with "potential distribution partners" were ongoing but that the process was "not speedy".

As of the beginning of 2016, the Space: 2099 website was taken offline and now redirects to the official website of ITV. No official announcement regarding the fate of the series has been made by ITV or HD Films.
