Profiles

South Wolverhampton and Bilston Academy is an academy school (11-18 years) serving the town of Bilston and the southern area of the city of Wolverhampton in the West Midlands of England. SWB Academy is sponsored by the City of Wolverhampton Academy Trust made up of Wolverhampton College, Wolverhampton University and the City Council. Its current head teacher is Mrs Kerry Inscker.

It opened in September 2009 to replace Parkfield High School, which occupied a building at Bilston town centre and another at Lawnswood Avenue in the Lanesfield area of Wolverhampton. However, in September 2012, SWB Academy moved to a £25million new build in Dudley Street, Bilston.

School Houses

The academy's houses are Attwood, Brindley, Weston, Sanderson and Sixth (an exclusive form for only 16-19-year-old, Sixth form students). They are named after Richard Attwood, James Brindley, Simon Weston and Tessa Sanderson.

The academy's school colours also directly relate to the academy's level and house:

The houses also relate to the level of the building. Attwood mainly houses Science, PE and Food Technology classrooms. Brindley mainly houses Computer Science, Humanities and Modern Foreign Language classrooms. Weston mainly houses English Literature and Language and Mathematics classrooms. Sanderson mainly houses the Creative Industries such as Performing Arts, Music, Drama and Art classrooms.
