South Korean legislative election, 1960

Parliamentary elections were held in South Korea on 29 June 1960. The result was a victory for the Democratic Party, which won 175 of the 233 seats in the House of Commons, and 31 of the 58 seats in the Senate. Voter turnout was 84.3%.

This election was the first relatively honest national election held in South Korea. As it turned out, it would be the last free election held there until the 1987 presidential election. It also marked the first time that a liberal party won a majority of seats.
