Sonia Rosado has served on the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders since 2001. Rosado made history in November 2000 when she became the first Hispanic to be elected to the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders, and again in January 2002 when she was selected to serve as Freeholder Director. Freeholder Rosado was reelected in 2003. Rosado was selected by her fellow Freeholders in 2006 to serve as Freeholder Deputy Director for a one-year term.

The Passaic County-raised Freeholder graduated from Passaic High School and went on to receive her Bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University in Newark and a Fellowship to the Master of Arts program in Urban Administration at Bucknell University. Freeholder Rosado holds New Jersey State Certifications as a Social Worker and as a Vocational/Employment Specialist.

Rosado is a resident of the Borough of Ringwood.
