Sonali Kulkarni (born 1965) is President and CEO of Fanuc India, the local unit of Japanese industrial robots maker Fanuc Corp. In her role, she oversees all Sales, Marketing, Business Development activities for all products including CNC, Robots, Robomachines and System Integration for Fanuc, India.

Personal life

Kulkarni is the great grand daughter of Mahatma Gandhi and the daughter of Sumithra Kulkarni, an ex-IAS officer and a former Rajya Sabha MP and G R Kulkarni, the former Dean of IIM Ahmedabad.

She moved to India from Japan in 2001.

She married Ravi Venkatesan, former Chairman of Microsoft India on October 11, 2010. They had known each other since 1999 but got married with family's acceptance ten years later.

Education & career

Kulkarni is completed her MBA from Ohio State University and she is a member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She is a Zoology graduate and has a keen interest in environmental sustainability.

Kulkarni has worked as a Financial Analyst in the US. Kulkarni took charge as CEO of Fanuc India in 2006. Before becoming the CEO, she worked as the executive assistant to Fanuc’s chairman in Japan. Since Kulkarni took charge as a CEO, company's revenue has doubled and the company has captured an 80% market share in the industrial robots in India.
