The Prominent moth, (Somera viridifusca), is a moth of the Notodontidae family. It is found in Sri Lanka, Sundaland, the Philippines, Sulawesi, the north-eastern Himalaya, India (Sikkim), China (Hainan, Yunnan) and Taiwan.
Description
Males have brown palpi. Vertex of head and thorax greenish. Abdomen is fuscous with the extremity is greenish. Fore wings are bright green with a brown patch below and beyond the end of the cell. Two subbasal waved dark lines present. Two antemedial and four postmedial streaks present. Single submarginal streak has brownish blotches. Hind wings are fuscous. Some specimens lack fore wing brown patch.
The larvae are yellow-green with a double yellow dorsal line. The area below the subdorsal stripe is green. The head is greyish-white with olive markings. Pupation takes place underground.
