Storyline

Alessandro is in his mid 30s and owns a restaurant in Rome. He loves luxury and lives a decent life and spends his time with one-night stands and paid love. One day, his life changes utterly as he walks into a store where he first encounters Sofia who is in her late 20s and has a shop where she designs her own collection of clothes. She leads a modest life and one day while looking for a book, her and Alessandro's paths cross. He is fascinated by Sofia's beauty and starts running after her. They both experience first signs of love, which they have never experienced before. Although Alessandro tries to fit Sofia into his life, he realizes that this narrows his life down while on the other hand Sofia has already fallen in love with him.

Solitario portrays people whose lives have been isolated by modern lifestyles. It is also a hommage to 60's and 70's Italian lifestyle, music and movies like 8 1/2 and La Dolce Vita and revives the culture of that era.

The film is filmed on-location in Rome and will be released in cinemas in 2015.

Music

A significant aspect of the film is the soundtrack which consists of rare original Italian music from the 1960s and 1970s. The soundtrack features songs by Ornella Vanoni, Achille Tolgani, Claudio Villa and Gigliola Cinquetti. The main theme of the movie is Orfeu Negro by Danielle Licari.
